Meet and Greet:
Parents/Guardians of Grade 7 Students and New Students:
We would like to extend an invitation to you and your family to join us for a “Meet and Greet” on Sept 15. Come out and get to meet your child’s teachers, bring your family and mingle. We will be having hamburgers and refreshments.
This is a great opportunity to get to know each other a bit better. It’s a casual gathering. It starts at 5:00pm and ends approx. 6:30 p.m. Please have your child indicate through his or her teacher Tuesday morning if you will be in attendance and approximately how many will be attending.
We hope to see you there!
Assembly on Monday:
On Monday morning starting at 9:15 the Bregadere General David Neismith, Commanding officer of the Canadian Armed Forces Atlantic will be making a presentation to the Maple Grove and High School Memorial Club, recognizing their efforts in general but also viewing the monument recently erected on school property. Drop by if you wish. We start at 9:15.
Changing of the Schedule:
A population explosion has created class sizes of 32+ per Grade 9 classes. The administration of the TCRSB has, as a result, assigned a new teacher to our staff. This will allow for a new Grade 9 homeroom so numbers should be down to 27-28 per class. Of course we need to re assign time tables and build the new class. Expect changes to take effect by mid to late next week.
Baby Car Seats Wanted!
The Grade 9 Child Studies program is moving to a week-end format this year. Students will be able to take “their baby” for either a weekend (or an overnight) during Term 1 or Term 2. Additional baby car seats are needed to transport babies to and from Maple Grove. If you have a working car seat that you wish to donate, please contact Ms. Coady or Ms. Sullivan at 749-5160 or drop the seat off at the MGEC office
Student Pictures:
Pictures are being taken on Thursday for the 9’s and 8’s and Friday for the 7’s and any other Grade 8’s left over from Thursday.
Home and School:
Our first Home and School meeting takes place at 6 pm on Tuesday.
SAC Meeting:
Join us on the 21st for our first SAC meeting. We start at 7:00pm.
Dance:
Our first Maple Grove Dance will be this Friday, Sept 18, 7:30-10:30. The cost is $6.00 and tickets will go on sale starting Monday at recess and noon. Guest tickets will be available until Thursday. Pick up is at 10:30 sharp.
The following traffic plan was formulated with the help of the R.C.M.P. to help solve
traffic congestion when picking up students (especially after dances and graduation exercises)
The R.C.M.P. will sometimes be directing traffic as well. Please follow this plan to speed
up the flow of vehicles to and from the school.
