Embedded Collaborative Learning Time (CLT)

Beginning in September 2016 our schools are adopting an Embedded Collaborative Learning Time model to enhance professional learning for teachers and other school based staff.

How "embedded collaborative learning time" will happen:

  • Students will be dismissed 90 minutes early on the following Thursdays:
  • September 15, 2016
  • October 6, 2016
  • November 3 and 17, 2016
  • December 8, 2016
  • January 12, 2017
  • February 9 and 23, 2017
  • March 9 and 30, 2017
  • April 20, 2017
  • May 11 and 25, 2017
  • June 8, 2017
  • Staff will remain at schools for collaborative learning time
  • TCRSB schools have been exceeding the required minimum instructional time for several years
  • Currently all schools have a minimum of 7 additional minutes of instructional time added to each school day to allow for the 14 ninety (90) minute early dismissals
  • Reduced number of Full PD Days from 6 to 4 beginning in 2016-17 school year

How your child will benefit in all areas including math, literacy, and school climate:

  • Student needs are highlighted and decisions are made together about how to best address these learning needs and leads to changes in practices in the classroom that increase student achievement.

·         Teams work with a shared purpose and common goals in an environment of continuous inquiry and reflection intended to improve equitable assessment and instructional practices that will enhance their effectiveness in the classroom and increase student learning

  • Staff collaborate, share, and discuss enhanced support for quality instruction and assessment practices and improving student engagement
  • During this structured time, staff will be examining student achievement and performance data to plan for specific strategies to improve student learning and student engagement.

There is overwhelming evidence that students are more successful when staff have opportunities to work together during collaborative time with each other. When staff engage in valuable collaborative learning time they adjust their teaching practices to improve student engagement and achievement.

We appreciate your support as we continue to find creative ways to improve student achievement and engagement.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the principal.
